Self-study

In lieu of getting a post-graduate degree, I am embarking on a journey of self-study. I’ll write a blog post about why I am choosing this route later.

My interests in self study may seem broad at first glance. It will become more apparent as I share more of my journey and vision. I will be researching topics in marketing, business law, non-profit, social services and psychology.

I’m taking this one semester at a time, rather than planning the full thing out in advance. I’ll continue to update these pages as my self-study journey progresses. You can click on each of the course titles to see my approach to study for that particular class.

Strategy for Curriculum Selection:

  1. Research degree programs from some of the top schools & identify courses that I should be taking based on my long-term goals.
  2. Determine if there are courses available online that I can leverage from sources such as MITOpenCourseware or edX.org.
  3. If so, explore those courses and determine if it’s the right fit based on content available.
  4. If not, research any online syllabi posted related to those identified courses. I look for reading lists, assigments, topics, exams, etc.
  5. Supplement these sources with the following: interviews with current thought leaders and experienced professionals in the area of study, watch interviews/speeches on the topic of interest and seek out hands-on experience in the subject when appropriate through mini-internships.
